(This is such an old picture. I hate to change it just because I like it. The kids are much bigger. I am older and fatter and all grey. Computerguy has a bit more grey in his hair.)

I’m struggling with this section because I don’t want to simply define myself by my roles: wife, mother, Ph.D. I’m not who I thought I would be, but I like who I am. I’ll keep thinking on this.

The cast of characters:
Bookgirl: poet, liturgist, ministry associate, mom, spouse. My training is in English/Literature. My heart is in the church. Not certain where that’s taking me, but I’m letting the journey unfold. The word for right now is Trust.
Computerguy: the spouse. He’s a software systems engineer, a dad, a husband, a handy guy who likes to fix things and seems to take special pleasure in working on my computers. We have a mixed marriage: he’s a PC; I’m a Mac, but we’re making it work, servers and all.
Wordgirl or The Girl Child: our firstborn. She’s very careful, a perfectionist like her dad. She does things at her own pace when she’s good and ready, but by the time she does–she’s ready.
Mathguy or The Boy Child: our little guy. He does extremes very well. He’s a happy guy who likes to make his presence known–except when he isn’t.

  3. Just stumbled onto “Bookgirl” and I really enjoyed reading some of your blog. I am currently trying to finish a master’s thesis in political science and then it’s off to another master’s.

    Good stuff!
