ode to joy

NaBloPoMo Day 8:
Write briefly – oh , so briefly- about your favorite hymn line or stanza.

Joyful joyful we adore Thee
God of glory, Lord of love…

The girl child had this in her piano lesson a few weeks ago.

The boy child was learning Yankee Doodle, so the girl child was playing Yankee Doodle from memory, in part because she was reminded of it, in part because she memorized it last year and plays it All The Time, in part to kind of push him and show off. Her teacher suggested she work on memorizing Ode to Joy to add to her repertoire of memorized songs (Mary Had a Little Lamb, Yankee Doodle, and Jingle Bells). I hope she will.

Favorites are hard. For the Beauty of the Earth… What Wondrous Love Is This… O Come of O Come Emanuel… others.

But there is something so … wait for it … JOYFUL about Ode to Joy. I would love it if Wordgirl would learn it. I could listen to her play it any time, over and over again. I think.
